Recommended Travel Course for 2 Days Linking Daegu and Gyeongju

Where to go next and how to go are part of the main considerations when planning travel. In those perspective, Daegu is the perfect place to visit. Popular cities including Andong, Gyeongju and Busan are located near Daegu.

Let’s look into the travel course for 2 days covering both Daegu and Gyeongju, where you can reach in 20 minutes by KTX.

# Kim Gwangseok Street

Travel begins with visiting ‘Kim Gwangseok Street’. In the memorial of the most beloved singer in Korea, various murals and sculptures welcome visitors. With his songs as background music, take time to walk along the street.



To reach Kim Gwangseok Street from Dongdaegu Station, move on to bus stop ‘Dongdaegu Station Underpass1(동대구역지하도1)’ and take Bus No. 401. After about 23 minutes on bus, stop at bus stop ‘Daegu Mansion Opposite Side(대구맨션건너)’ and move toward ‘Sooseonggyo(수성교)’ until Kim Gwangseok Street is in sight.

# Dalseong Park


Next to visit is ‘Dalseong Park’ where you can take time on peaceful park or zoo at once.  Since the park is located with zoo, this place is also popular for families with their children.



In order to reach Dalseong Park from Kim Gwangseok Street, move about 450 meters toward bus stop ‘Bangcheon Market Opposite Side(방천시장건너). Take Bus No. 939 and stop at ‘Dalseong Park Opposite Side’.

# Seomun Market


Final destination in Daegu is ‘Seomun Night Market’ where you can enjoy various street food of Daegu. With its popularity on SNS, Seomun Night Market is now becoming night market representing Korea. Fascinating street food with performance attracts visitors.


Move about 500 meters toward Kookmin Bank building on foot from Dalseong Park and you can easily find Seomun Market.

# Bulguksa Temple



Now, let’s move on to next destination of Gyeongju. The most convenient and fastest way to get to Gyeongju is by KTX train. The KTX train departs from Dongdaegu Station and arrives at Shingyeongju Station. This takes about 20 minutes and costs 8,400 Korean Won.

‘Bulguksa Temple’ is the place where you begin your journey in Gyeongju. As the UNESCO's World Heritage, Bulguksa Temple represents well preserved Buddhist culture of Korea.

To reach Bulguksa Temple from Shingyeongju Station, take Bus No. 700 at bus stop ‘Shingyeongju Station(신경주역)’. After traveling about one and a half hour, stop at ‘Bulguksa Temple(불국사)’

# Palace of the Crown Prince & Moon Pond 



Next traveling attraction is ‘Palace of the Crown Prince & Moon Pond’. This palace from Silla Dynasty is known for its fascinating scenery. With lotus community near the pond, this place is perfect place to take photos.



Take Bus No. 10 from bus stop ‘Bulguksa Temple(불국사)’ and stop at ‘Palace of the Crown Prince & Moon Pond(동궁과월지)’ after about 45 minutes of travel.


# Cheomseongdae


The last place to visit in Gyeongju is ‘Cheomseongdae’. Cheomseongdae, the oldest observatory in the world, is also known for its site with green field perfect to take a walk.

Move toward ‘Daereungwon’ about 700 meters from ‘Palace of the Crown Prince & Moon Pond’ and you can find Cheomseongdae.
