Just like The Starry Night, there’s a festival in Daegu embroidering night sky. Let us introduce Daegu Wish Lantern Festival.
As the part of Lantern Festival which originated from wishing happiness of the society and family around April. Though originally Buddhist ceremony, Daegu Buddhists society have sublimated the ceremony into festival for everyone by grafting various modern cultural programs.
Dalgubal Lantern Festival begin with lighting ceremony. After Buddhist memorial ceremony, people parade to light the lanterns in shape of Buddhist temple bell.
After Buddhist ceremony, various performances and events are opened to all visitors.
The finale of the festival is flying wish lanterns. Wish lanterns which was only a part of the festival got attention through pictures of lanterns embroidering night sky.
With becoming famous through several Korean dramas, more visitors were gathered to fly lanterns with wish and to make everlasting memories.
You can join the Wish Lantern Festival by booking through internet. Both Green Zone, where can make own lantern and Pink Zone where can take photos are available.
Also, 5,000 Yellow Zone free tickets are available for those who could not make reservation.
